Combine a length of pretty paper doll cutouts and ribbon to make an adorable lampshade for a child's room.
Materials:

flat-sided lampshade
decoupage medium
scrap booking paper
ribbon
drill
buttons
hot glue gun
18-gauge wire

Steps:

1. Drill (or punch) small holes every two inches along the base of the shade.

2. Glue a row of buttons close together along the top edge of the shade.

3. Cut the ribbon to fit around the base through the holes. Cut a piece of wire (about five inches) and bend it in half. Tie a knot in one end of the ribbon and put the other between the folded wire (about ten inches in) to use it as a needle . Thread the ribbon neatly through the drilled holes on the shade and finish the ends as desired.

4. Fan-fold the paper the desired width of the doll (experiment to see how many would look good on the shade). Draw a simple boy or girl on scrap paper (be sure at least one side of the drawing reaches the edge of the paper in order for it to work once cut); trace it on the folded piece, and then cut it out. Repeat for each side of the shade.

5. Decoupage the paper dolls around the middle of the shade. Apply four to five layers of glue on top, allowing it to dry between coats. Let dry.
