Figure D
Host Renai Ellison explains how to turn an old electric chandelier into a romantic candle chandelier (see photo at right).

Materials:

old electric chandelier
needle-nose pliers
wire cutters
cloth
sandpaper
spray paint
crystal bevels and beads (optional)
candles
floral putty

Steps:

  1. Remove the wires, electrical cording, etc., from a chandelier with needle-nose pliers and wire cutters (figure A).

  2. Clean well with a cloth.

  3. Gently sandpaper in places that may have rust (figure B).

  4. Spray paint the chandelier. You may have to apply more than one coat, and you'll have to turn chandelier upside down to make sure that it gets completely covered. Let dry well.

  5. If desired, use wire to hang crystal bevels (figure C) and beads onto the chandelier for a more elegant look.

  6. Attach and hang the chandelier from a hook with the painted chain.

  7. Insert candles, adhering them with floral putty (figure D).
