Figure B
Materials:

door
six 2" x 2" boards
6 leg brackets
6 two-sided screws
4" foam pad
fabric
decorative trim
iron on hem tape
drill
staple gun and staples
hot glue gun
vice grips
iron

Steps:

  1. Remove all the hardware from the door and cut it in half lengthwise.
  2. Attach leg brackets with screws--one in each corner and two in the middle.
  3. Layout the fabric for the seat and place foam pad onto it.
  4. Place the bench onto the foam and secure the fabric with staples along one edge (figure A). Turn the corners in as if wrapping a present before stapling. Continue stapling around the bench until finished.
  5. Cut legs out of the 2" x 2"s to desired height. Drill a hole in the center of e each leg. Use vise grips to add a two-sided screw to each leg and screw the legs into the brackets (figure B).
  6. Set the bench on its side and lay out the skirt fabric. Staple the skirt in place, making small tucks in the fabric to make it full.
  7. Apply a small amount of glue and press decorative gold trim in place to hide the staples.
  8. Add levelers to the legs as needed.
