Use an old table to make a unique ottoman.

Materials:

utility table
screwdriver
saw
miter box
pencil
measuring tape
fabric remnants
foam
staple gun
adhesive fabric tape
iron
glue gun
fabric trim

Steps:

  1. Unscrew the legs of the table. Measure and mark them eight inches from the bottom, and then cut them down using a miter box saw.
  2. Place a piece of foam, cut to the size of the tabletop, onto the fabric. Lay the tabletop on top of the foam (figure A). Stretch the fabric over the foam and secure it to the bottom of the tabletop with a staple gun (figure B). Trim the excess fabric.
  3. Make a skirt using a fabric remnant to fit around the tabletop. Sew a hem or use adhesive fabric tape.
  4. Staple the fabric skirt in place and add decorative trim with a glue gun.
  5. Screw the legs back on to the tabletop (figure C).
