Table

Materials:

one 30" wooden round
four 16" wooden rounds
four table legs
jigsaw
4 threaded brackets
wood screws
paint in various colors
paintbrushes
sandpaper

Figure A
Steps:

1. Mark the center of two of the 16-inch rounds by making an X on each. Use a whole 16-inch round to draw an arc within one quadrant on each round and use a jigsaw to cut a portion out (figure A). Cut arcs out of an adjoining quadrant of each round to create a point (four total cuts).

2. Sand the edges lightly to remove splinters. Butt the cut portions up against the two complete rounds so all four 16-inch rounds fit together like puzzle pieces. Attach them to the 30-inch round base from below using wood screws (figure B).

3. Attach the threaded brackets to the base and secure the legs in place.
4. Paint as desired and let dry (figure C).
Stools

Materials (for one stool):

nail gun or hammer and nails
fabric
button
6 square pieces of lumber
foam pillow form
trim pieces
staple gun
4 bells
needle and thread
sewing machine
4 ball-shaped finials
2 handles
paint
paintbrushes

Steps:

1. Nail the four sides and base of the box together to form the desired size stool. Paint the entire box plus the ball finials and trim pieces in the desired colors and let dry.

2. Cut the fabric large enough to cover the pillow form and its sides. Use a zigzag stitch to create two quarter-inch center pleats--one in each direction--and a hem around the edges (figure D).
3. Add a button to the top center of the fabric for tufting and pull the fabric around the pillow form and the square wood top piece. Staple the fabric to the bottom side of the wood, leaving the corners to hang free. Hand-stitch the bells to each corner of the fabric for a whimsical touch.

4. To keep the top secure and cover the staples, add an outline of trim pieces to the inside edge to allow it to fit snuggly onto the box (figure E). Screw the finials to the base corners for feet.
5. Attach handles to either side so the stool can be moved easily.
