Harvest Table
Decorating With Style : Episode DWS-320 -- More Projects »
Cindy Piccoli assembles a harvest table kit that is available at most local home centers or by mail. Not only are they inexpensive compared with assembled tables, but you can choose the style and length of the table legs.
Materials:
whole table kit or furniture components
pliers
slot screwdriver
ratchet wrench
paint or stain of choice
polyurethane
Steps:
- Insert the double-headed dowel screw into each table leg.
- Assemble the apron, leg and corner bracket onto the tabletop following kit directions. Some hardware may come with a square-head screw, as opposed to the traditional Phillips head. You may want to buy an inexpensive square-head screwdriver for future use, but it is not necessary. A regular "slot" screwdriver fits , as well.
- To tighten the table leg and bolt it onto the corner bracket, it helps to have a ratchet wrench.
- After assembling the table, paint or stain it as you wish. Piccoli stained the table before adding stamped designs along the edges. Apply several coats of polyurethane to protect the table's finish.
