1/2" plywood
circular saw
router
1/2" round over bit
1" x 4" pine
sandpaper
1" x 4" baseboard
Steps:

2. Make cleats out of pine and use a router to make a decorative edge or soften edges with sandpaper. Cut the cleats at a 45-degree angle where they meet in the corner and cut another 45-degree angle on the ends for the top angle of the top shelf board.
3. Make the front faceplate from the baseboard.
Cars
Materials:
1" x 4" pine
newspaper
utility knife
black marker
pencil
scroll or jigsaw with scroll blade
1/2" lumber for wheels
finish nails
wood glue
luan plywood
drywall screws
Steps:
1. Draw designs and transfer them to newspaper. Cut the shapes with a sharp utility blade.
2. Transfer cutout to a block of wood by outlining the design with a marker or pencil. Cut the shape out with a scroll saw or jigsaw with a scroll blade.
3. Place the car onto the lumber; trace the wheel well, and then finish the round portion of the wheel outline freehand. Cut the pieces out using the jigsaw.
4. For the details around the wheels and the driver's area, draw design following the contour of the car and cut it out. Attach the pieces using wood glue and finish nails.
5. Trace a smoke and fire design onto luan plywood and cut it out.
6. To mount the shelves, secure routed 1x4 cleats into the studs using drywall screws. Put the shelves on top of the cleats and nail them in place. Cut the front board on site to make sure everything fits and nail it in place.
7. Attach the cars with wood glue and finish nails.
