Bruce Johnson from Minwax explains how to transform an unfinished wooden room screen into a decorative accent that can be used to conceal an unattractive view or add interest to any corner.

Materials:

unfinished interior doors
sandpaper
wood conditioner (The guest used Minwax brand.)
color stains and finishes in green and brown (The guest used Minwax brand.)
water-based finish (The guest used Minwax brand.)
measuring tape
utility knife
corkboard
tile adhesive
notched trowel
paint roller

Steps:

  1. Sand doors lightly.

  2. Apply wood conditioner.

  3. Stain the panels green (figure A), then let dry.

  4. Stain the framework brown (figure B), then let dry.

  5. Apply a coat of water-based finish.

  6. Measure the middle panel for dimensions. Using a utility knife, cut the corkboard to fit those dimensions (figure C).

  7. Apply the tile adhesive to the middle panel with the notched trowel (figure D). Place corkboard on the adhesive.

  8. Use a paint roller to secure the corkboard (figure E).
