Materials:
raw canvas (unprimed) or other heavy cotton fabric
pen
transfer paper
glazes (Marble White, Burgundy, Rose Quartz, Raw Sienna, Moss, Dark Brown)
artist brushes
matte varnish
spray fabric finish (stain/moisture guard)
Steps:
- Cut fabric or canvas to fit the chair seat (allow three to four inches extra for padding and fabric to be turned under). Attach piece to cardboard for easy painting.
- Center chosen design and transfer lightly onto fabric (figure A).
- Paint design by beginning with the undercoating color, and then add details ( figure B). Allow to dry overnight.
- Lightly coat individual petals with matte varnish to protect. Once dry, spray with fabric finish.
- Remove seat from chair and center painted design. Turn under and staple to bottom of seat.
