Change chair fabric with the seasons for a lovely and stylish look.

Materials:

raw canvas (unprimed) or other heavy cotton fabric
pen
transfer paper
glazes (Marble White, Burgundy, Rose Quartz, Raw Sienna, Moss, Dark Brown)
artist brushes
matte varnish
spray fabric finish (stain/moisture guard)

Steps:

  1. Cut fabric or canvas to fit the chair seat (allow three to four inches extra for padding and fabric to be turned under). Attach piece to cardboard for easy painting.
  2. Center chosen design and transfer lightly onto fabric (figure A).
  3. Paint design by beginning with the undercoating color, and then add details ( figure B). Allow to dry overnight.
  4. Lightly coat individual petals with matte varnish to protect. Once dry, spray with fabric finish.
  5. Remove seat from chair and center painted design. Turn under and staple to bottom of seat.
