Turn a discarded kitchen cabinet door into an eye-catching bench to use inside or out.
Materials:

kitchen cabinet door
screws
drill
screwdriver
scrap iron molding
metal prongs (from a cement mixer)
wood trim
hammer
nails
sandpaper
paint /stain
paintbrushes

Steps:

  1. Remove the door's old knob and hinges.
  2. Bore holes in the metal prongs (legs) using a drill and standard bit. Use metal screws to drill through the legs and into the wood cabinet itself to make the piece sturdy. Paint or stain the piece as desired.
  3. Drill metal screws through the iron scrollwork to attach the decorative piece to the base and into the seat. Dab the screws with paint if necessary to blend them in.
  4. Hammer a piece of wood trim under the seat's edge for a decorative touch.
  5. Sand the bench lightly for a distressed look, paying more attention to edges and corners where the wood would naturally wear.
