Video: This oversized ottoman is a fun way to change a wood coffee table into a light springtime piece.
Materials:

plywood
batting
fabric
felt
hot glue gun
fusible web
iron
staple gun
cording (optional)

Steps:

1. Cut plywood to the size of the tabletop. Cut a piece of fabric and batting to that size plus enough extra to fold over the edges.

2. Place the fabric right side down with the batting on top. Lay the plywood over it and staple the fabric/batting to the board. Start in the center of each side and pull it taut as you move to the edges. Place fabric-side down on the coffee table. If desired, staple roping along the edges for a dressier finished look.

3. Make hemmed rectangles for the side panels using fusible web (be sure they are just the right height to meet the floor). Staple them close to the edge of the bottom of the plywood, folding a pleat in each corner to cover them (figure A).

4. Cut felt to the size of the plywood and glue it to the bottom to hide the staples and protect the tabletop. Flip the piece over and neatly arrange the pleats.
