Mesquite wood may be famous for adding flavor to barbecue, but Texas woodworker Robert Hensarling (figure A) would rather build with it than burn it. He loves the knots and burls in the scrappy wood, so he uses it to build furniture. Here he has crafted a rocking chair with beautiful grain patterns (figure B).
