Add a little color to plain picture frames with simple items from around the house such as beads and buttons.

Craft expert Deborah Fiscus points out fun ways to dress up photo frames.

  • Decorating photo frames can be a great project for you to do with your children. For their safety, be sure to use white all-purpose glue rather than the hot glue.

  • Glue on items from around the house such as, toy cars, beads and buttons.

  • Buy colored hot glue and let some ooze out from behind the object you are gluing.

  • Add dimension and color to an ordinary wooden frame by squiggling on lines with a hot-glue gun. When the glue dries, paint over the lines. This is great for personalizing or simply adding a little flair. If you don't like the way the glue looks, just place it in the freezer to make the glue pop off.

  • Have a friend that is crazy about the kitchen? How about using some kitchen utensils to decorate a frame?

  • Age a gold frame and/or accessories by lightly applying black paint, then quickly wiping it off to leave a faint hint of the dark color.
