Birdcages aren't just for the birds anymore. If you love the look of a birdcage but don't have a bird, use them as works of art in your home.
  • No longer solely used as a bird's abode, displaying a birdcage in the home is one of today's hottest design trends. Lured by their sculptural lines and airy look, decorators are utilizing them just as they would any accent piece.
  • Many of today's birdcages made from wood or metal are stained to have a weathered and worn look reminiscent of European antiques. Cages with gilded patinas have been popular as far back as the 18th century and are still in demand today.
  • No matter what your style, a birdcage can add an interesting element to any room of the house. Work them in as you would any piece of sculpture.
  • Some people find the birdcage is the perfect place for their faux-feathered friends .
  • Turn a birdcage into a chandelier by outfitting it with electric candles for a totally illuminating look (figure A).
