Showcase a collection of family photos or interesting architectural pieces using a simple technique to make silhouettes of them.
Materials:

Photocopied Silhouettes:
profile photo
pencil
craft knife
cutting mat
small decoupage scissors
spray adhesive
cream and black art paper
frame

Polaroid Silhouettes:

profile photos
black and white paint pens
frame

Steps:

Photocopied Silhouettes

  1. Choose profile photo and enlarge to desired size. Trace around edges with marker.
  2. Use scissors and craft knife to cut out profile image. Spray back of photo with adhesive and place on black paper.
  3. Cut image out and flip over for the silhouette.
  4. Spray picture side with adhesive and center on cream paper.
  5. Frame as desired.

Polaroid Silhouettes

  1. Outline and fill-in profile picture with black paint pen. Color the background white.
  2. Frame as desired.

Tips:

  • Traditional silhouettes are black, but try using dark brown or blue.
  • Silhouettes were invented before the camera for people who couldn't afford painted portraits to have likenesses of their loved ones. The old silhouettes are highly collectible and can sell for hundreds of dollars.
