Instead of using smaller tiles and grout, just have a larger tile cut to size and insert it into the entire frame.
Designer Richard Anderson shows host Joan Steffend how to create a decorative trivet that can be used for hot pots or hung on the wall as a decorative accessory.

Steps:

  1. Remove glass and backing from picture frame.
  2. Attach plywood to back of frame. Paint frame and plywood, if desired.
  3. Insert tiles in frame and apply grout. Allow to dry.
  4. Attach plastic "feet" to prevent it from slipping.
