Interior designer, Janie Petkus, demonstrates how to use antique pieces as art:

Tea towels can be framed and hung on the wall. It looks nice to use several in one frame (figure A).
Frame multiple postcards together and put glass on the front and back so that both sides are visible (figure B).
In France, wallpaper manufacturers would make a painting called a cartoon (a picture of what a duplicate tapestry would look like)(figure C). The same look can be done with lace, fabric fragments, baby stockings, etc.
Three-dimensional brackets or corbels can be used as artwork.
Use a collage of pictures to cover an entire wall. Plates used to print books , each framed and displayed together on a wall, is an example of this (figure D).
