Materials:
small pump
2"-thick plastic foam piece (approximately 12" x 14")
1/4" plywood (approximately 10"x12")
baking pan
construction glue
plastic tubing
exterior stucco
paints (Burnt Umber, Raw Sienna, Green)
glazes
spray exterior varnish
sheet moss
felt tabs
beach glass
Steps:
- Cut a hole off-center in plastic foam to fit pan. Glue container in place, and then carve the outside edges into rough rock shapes (figure A). Cover base piece with stucco product and allow to dry. Glue felt tabs on base to protect table.
- Cut small rock shapes out of the foam and cover in stucco. Once dry, tint the stucco on the rocks and base in various stone shades (figure B).
- Poke a hole in two rocks for the tubing and push it in place (figure C ). Make sure the hole in the top rock is angled toward the bowl, with a little trough for the water to follow. Glue rocks together and attach to base, making sure the low end of the tubing goes into the container.
- Spray with exterior varnish for protection.
- Once dry, hide container edges with moss and plants. Use a piece of greenery to diffuse the water flow (figure D). Put beach glass in container to also diffuse water.
- Place pump in container and attach tubing. Fill with water and plug in.
