Project demonstrated by Marie Clapper.
Materials:
twelve craft or ice cream sticks
pet photo to fit into a two-inch square opening
3-1/2-inch square of cardboard
3/4 inch wide masking tape
brown acrylic paint
black, medium-line permanent marker or paw print rubber stamp and dark brown or black ink pad
thick craft glue
scissors
paintbrush
paper towel
Steps:
- Glue three craft sticks together side by side to create a craft stick set. Repeat three times.
- Overlap and glue the craft stick sets together to create a square frame.
- Tear and tape one- to 1-1/2-inch lengths of masking tape on the surface of the craft stick frame. Completely cover the frame sides and front with the tape.
- Paint over tape using brown paint or shoe polish. Immediately wipe off paint/polish using a paper towel. This should leave a thin, splotchy layer of color. Allow paint to dry.
- Use a marker or rubber stamps to draw paw prints around the front of the frame as desired.
- Center and glue photo on the back of the frame. Center and glue cardboard on the back of the frame.
