Steps:
1. Calculate the number of cardboard squares and how large they should be to cover surface of the frame. Cut the cardboard with a craft knife and a metal ruler (figure A).
2. Use assorted acrylic colors to paint the cardboard squares.
3. Once the squares are dry, cover the entire surface of the squares with embossing ink by rubbing the pad directly onto the painted cardboard.
4. Sprinkle clear embossing powder over the entire surface. Tap off the excess powder. Heat the surface with an embossing tool until the powder melts (figure B).
5. Repeat process in step 4 two more times. Before heating the third time, ink a rubber stamp with embossing ink and press it into the melted embossing powder ( figure C).
6. Stamp additional squares of cardboard using different stamps and different colors of embossing powders to create the final design (figure D).
7. Before the melted embossing powder sets, sprinkly a few of the cardboard squares with glass beads and other embellishments if desired.
8. Use pigment powders to rub over raised surfaces of stamped cardboard to create contrast.
9. Use heavy-duty adhesive to adhere the cardboard squares to the wood surface (figure E).
