Materials:
5 panes of picture glass cut the same size
wooden frame that can accommodate five panes of glass
acrylic paints
picture or photo for framing
words, images, etc. for collage
metallic markers
paintbrushes
china marker
metallic leaf and glue (optional)
heavy-duty tape
picture hangers and wire
Steps:
- Place picture or photo in the center of one pane of glass. Use the china maker to trace the outline of the photo onto the glass.
- Using the pane of glass from step 1 as a template, draw off the same area on each pane of glass.
- Working outside the photo outlines created in step 2, glue the photo or picture to the outlined center of one pane of glass. Place the glass so the photo is displayed face up.
- Position a second piece of glass on top of the one with the photo. Apply paint decoratively around the picture. Let dry.
- Place a third piece of glass over the first two. Add a decorative collage to the outside of the photo using complementary images.
- Repeat this process until you get to the last piece of glass. Apply paint, etc. to the underside of this pane of glass so the top surface is smooth.
- Align the edges of all the panes of glass and place them in the chosen frame. Back the entire frame area with board, and tape around the edges with heavy-duty tape.
- Attach picture hangers and wire to back of frame to hang.
