Tri-Fold Frame Materials:
3 similarly styled frames with straight sides and the same height (use a different width in the middle if desired)
4 small hinges with screws
double-stick mounting tape
neutral card stock
2 D-rings or picture frame hangers
paint to change the color of the frames (optional)
Steps:
- If painting the frames, do that first, and let them dry completely.
- Connect the frames with the hinges. Mount four hinges on the center frame, two on each side of the frame at the top, and two at the bottom. Be sure to mount the hinges with the pivot facing out. Then mount the other side of the hinge to the other two picture frames to create a tri-fold.
- After placing the picture, backing, etc. back into each of the frames, cover the backs of the two outside frames that will not be flat against the wall (or all three backs if displaying the frame on a table) using a few glazing points and a neutral colored card stock.
- Finally, attach two D-rings or picture frame hangers to the middle frame, and hang it on nails or wall screws.
Four-Frame Collage Materials:
4 frames that are the same size and alike in style
mounting brackets with screws
2 D-rings
decorative ribbon
paint to change the color of the frames (optional)
Steps:
- If painting the frames, do that first, and let them dry completely.
- Place the frames as they will appear on the wall.
- Turn the frames face down in their positions, and attach them together using the mounting brackets.
- Put the glass, pictures, backing, etc. back into the frames. Then screw the D-rings into the top corners of the back of the frame collage.
- Run a ribbon through the D-rings, and hang the ensemble from a nail or hook.
