Materials for candleholder:

5 forks
3 spoons (stainless steel flatware is easiest to work with)
2 sets of 6-32 by 3/4" bolts and corresponding nuts
Dremel D-Vise
Dremel #395 Variable Speed MultiPro Tool Kit (includes rotary tool)
Dremel #426 Reinforced Cut-Off Wheel bit
Dremel #85422 Silicon Carbide Grinding Stone bit
Dremel #952 Aluminum Oxide Grinding Stone bit
safety glasses
adjustable wrench
screwdriver
electric drill
needle-nose pliers
rubber mallet
candle

Caution: Always wear safety glasses when using power tools.

Steps:
  1. On three forks (those used for the base), measure 1 1/8" from the bottom, and drill a hole in the middle of each. Use a 5/32" drill bit.
  2. On the remaining two forks (those used for the middle), measure 1/4" from the base of the tines, and drill a hole in the middle of the neck of the forks (where the handle and tines meet).
  3. Cut the tops off the two forks that will form the middle of the holder. Using the cut-off wheel bit, set the rotary tool on speed #2, place the fork in the vise, and cut steadily back and forth. Cut about 1/4" above the drilled hole.
  4. Place a middle fork in the vise. Use the rotary tool and the #84522 grinding bit to grind off the sharp edge that's left after cutting off the fork tops. Use on speed #2 or #3.
  5. Bend both ends of the middle forks to form a platform for the middle of the candleholder. Note: A rubber mallet may be used to make bending easier.
  6. Place a fork in the vise, with the handle end up. Bend it 90 degrees backward, 1/4" below the drilled hole. Turn the fork upside down, and bend the opposite end 90 degrees backward, 1/4" below the drilled hole. Repeat on the second fork.
  7. Begin work on the base of the holder. Place a fork in the vise. Bend it backward 90 degrees, 1/2" below the drilled hole. Repeat with the other two forks.
  8. Place the handle of the fork in the vise, using needle-nose pliers to bend the tines forward 90 degrees.
  9. Position the three forks as the base of the holder. Thread a nut and bolt through the three forks and into the two that form the middle section.
  10. Create the cup of the holder using three spoons. Bend each of the spoons into a "C" with three bends while secured in the vise. Begin by putting the spoon in the vise sideways, then turn upright, and continue bending.
  11. Thread the bolt and nut through the three spoons and the two forks that form the middle.
  12. Complete the holder by making slight adjustments and manually bending elements until satisfied.
  13. Finish by adding a candle.
Optional: Add a decorative touch to the spoons by etching a flower, sun or other shape onto the cup. Wearing safety glasses, use the rotary tool and the #952 grinding stone bit to etch a pattern. Set the tool on speed #3.

Materials for vase:

3 forks (stainless steel is easiest to work with)
22-gauge wire
rubber band
vase
Dremel #395 Variable Speed MultiPro Tool Kit (includes rotary tool)
Dremel D-Vise
Dremel #85422 Silicon Carbide Grinding Stone bit
safety glasses
wire cutters
scissors

Steps:
  1. Remove the plastic clamps from both sides of the vise. Place one fork in the vise, backside facing you. Clamp it at the middle of the fork handle. Bend it toward you about 90 degrees at the neck of the fork. Do the same with the other two forks.
  2. Place one fork in the vise. Set the rotary tool on top speed (#5) and use the #85422 bit to carve out a notch on both sides of the bent neck of the fork. These notches will help secure the wire. Carve out notches on both sides of all three forks.
  3. Position the forks to cup the vase, and use a rubber band to anchor the forks in place. Place the vase into the base, and adjust it as necessary.
  4. When done adjusting, anchor one of the forks in the vise so you can use both hands to wrap the wire. Cut an 18-inch piece of wire and begin wrapping it wire around the forks. After two or three times around, cut the rubber band out and finish wrapping the wire.
  5. Insert the vase.
