White, black or beige mats tend to look better when working with black and white photograph groupings.
Collections of all kinds are usually built from a single favorite item, and grow over time as similar pieces are found and added to the group. Guest Cathy Whitlock offers the following display tips:

Black and White Photographs

Keep the group consistently black and white rather than mixing in color photos. White, black or beige mats tend to look better when working with black and white photograph groupings. Display the photos in "conversation" areas such as the hallway, den or living room.

Porcelain, Pottery and China

Don't be afraid to mix the older, more collectible pieces with reproduction pieces. Whitlock's private collection features both Majolica Etruscan china and reproduction pieces displayed together.

Special Boxes

These are attractive and eye-catching either stacked on top of each other, or randomly displayed on a tabletop.
