Looking for a way to use those seashell souvenirs? Try using them as accents on custom seashell drapery rods, tiebacks, decorative pots, even curtain trims.
Seashell Drapery Rods
Materials:
2 large shells, starfish or sand dollars for each rod
curtain rods with finials
glue gun and glue sticks
Steps:
- Take the finial off of the curtain rod.
- Hot-glue the under side of the starfish.
- Lay the starfish on its back and press the finial into the glue. Allow to dry.
- Repeat on other finial. When both are completely dry, screwed them back into the curtain rod.
Seashell Tiebacks
Materials:
seashells or sand dollars (the flatter the better)
inexpensive round tiebacks
hot glue gun and glue
Steps:
- Attach the shells or sand dollars to the round part of the tiebacks by putting the hot glue on the tieback part and pressing the shell or sand dollar on top of it until it adheres.
- Mount tieback to the wall according to instructions.
Seashell Looped Curtain Trim

Steps:
- Decide the length of the ribbon needed to tie the knots at the base of the loops on the curtain.
