Lining cabinets or open shelving with maps, sheet music, or any kind of paper artwork gives them a decorative touch.
Materials:
cabinet with shelving or open shelving
various pieces of artwork*
scissors to cut the paper
foam brush
white glue, watered down
*Sheet music, "antique" maps, pictures from a book that have been blown up on a copy machine; whatever you choose.
Steps:
- Cut artwork to fit the cabinet. You may either have your papers sized by using a copy machine, or use a patchwork effect.
- With the foam brush, spread the glue onto the back of the artwork, and apply pieces, one at a time, to the inside of the cabinet.
- Paint the cabinet, if desired, and paper or paint the shelves to match the paper used in other areas of the cabinet.
- Smooth the papers with your fingers or with a wooden roller.
