Figure B
Field reporter Joe Zanger visits artistic papermaker Joan Kopchik, who creates decorative wall pieces that involve many techniques that quiltmakers use. Kopchik often even sews these paper pieces together and incorporates metallic thread and beads into her work.

Figure A--Kopchik draws her inspiration from Amish quiltmaking. What she saw were vivid, beautiful colors and plain fabrics, which she felt lent itself to paper. This opened up the possibility for doing 3-D pieces with sculptural shapes.

Figure B--A piece of this size and dimension brings a splash of color and vibrancy to a pale wall. The versatility of the medium allows the piece to complement both contemporary and country settings.
