The colorful clock incorporates Kente cloth, which was originally woven for royalty in Africa.

Materials:

Kente cloth
unfinished wood clock
fusible web

Steps:

  1. Paint clock as desired and allow to dry.
  2. Cut cloth to fit inside clock front. Press piece, and then attach fusible web according to manufacturer's directions.
  3. Remove backing and adhere cloth on clock. Trim material on top as needed and press cloth to clock (figure A).
  4. Find hole for clock works and snip a small bit of material in that spot. Put clock mechanism together and add numbers.
