Materials:
terra-cotta pots (8" and 6") plus smaller sizes
large saucer
pre-mixed potting soil
impatiens
moss
ivy
old glass bottles
fresh floral cuttings
Steps:
- Fill saucer with soil and place eight-inch pot in it. Loosen the root balls of impatiens and plant in saucer evenly around pot. Hide open spaces with moss.
- Fill eight-inch pot halfway with soil and position six-inch pot on top of it. Add soil between them until it's almost full.
- Loosen root balls of ivy plants and place in soil between the pots. Cover roots with soil and exposed soil with moss.
- Fill six-inch pot halfway with soil. Fill glass bottles 3/4 full with water and bury in dirt in pot. Stabilize with more soil.
- Insert cut flowers into glass bottles to act as vases. If bottles are taller than pot, hide mechanics with moss.
- Place other plants and moss in smaller pots and place around tiered pot to create a grouping.
Tips:
- Mulch will help any exposed soil stay moist. After about two to three weeks, transfer plants to garden or another container.
- Choose foliage that coordinates with your decor.
- Leave enough space in pots for watering.
