Figure C
Host Renai Ellison demonstrates how to build a window-cloche conservatory (see photo) with old wooden window frames.

Materials:

one set of windows, similar in size (with at least six panes)
two 2- x 4-foot pieces of wood
wood screws
power drill
paints
sponge brush
stamp

Steps:

  1. Carefully knock out the center portion of one of the windows (both the wood and the glass). Cut in two equally-size pieces, making the cut at a 45-degree angle.

  2. Use the 2- x 4-foot pieces of wood to act as a base for the windows. Screw the windows into the wood to create the walls of the conservatory (figure A).

  3. Use the other window, again cutting at a 45-degree angle, to serve as the roof (figure B). Secure in place with a power drill and wood screws. You may need another set of hands to secure this structure properly.

  4. All that's left now is decoration. Paint any color you choose. Embellish the panes of glass with stamps and paint (figure C).

  5. Use this structure to hold plants, such as ferns.
