A pretty arrangement of flowers can brighten up any tabletop, if you're willing to pay the price once the garden blossoms have faded. But a green bouquet is available year-round when you know what to look for. Dean Johnson shares how to create an arrangement using a variety of greenery just outside. Branches from trees, clippings from bushes, vines, and herbs can all be combined to create a long-lasting green bouquet that will be right at home on a country table. It's a fresh, fun and affordable idea country lovers will appreciate.
Some ideas to keep in mind when creating a green arrangement:
- Be sure to use plenty of color and texture. Variety is the key when creating a bouquet of greenery.
- A variety of bases can be used to hold the greenery. A large glass urn, a white ironstone pitcher or a rust-colored sap bucket are a few fitting containers.
- When cutting foliage for the arrangement, make sure you have a bucket full of water. Cut your foliage and put it right in the water and it will stay fresh. When arranging the greenery, strip the leaves off the bottom so the water will stay clean and the arrangement will remain fresh.
- With a little care, the green arrangement should stay fresh for approximately three weeks.
