Materials:
natural banana, raffia or sisal fiber sheets
wool tapestry thread, embroidery thread or twine
tapestry needle with large eye
scissors
ruler or tape measure
hot glue gun
straight-sided glass vases
rubber fingertip
wire
beads
needle-nose pliers
Steps:
1. Measure height and circumference of glass vase. Cut the fiber to size so the edges overlap three inches. Fold a 1-1/2-inch hem on one back edge.
2. Thread needle and create a loose, artistic stitched pattern over the surface working from the bottom to the top (use one or more thread colors as desired). Cut and knot thread ends.
3. Place fiber right side down and center vase on it. Apply hot glue where the edges overlap and secure it in place using a rubber fingertip to avoid seeping glue .
4. Grab the end of a six-inch piece of wire with the pliers and repeatedly wrap the wire around the tip about 10 times. Remove the pliers and string three to four beads on the wire. Loop the other end like an earring and hang several from the vase lip or the fiber material as desired.
