Materials:

permanent marker
metal container
nail
hammer
scrap plywood
soil
plants

Steps:

1. Draw desired design on the inside of the container (above the soil line) with a marker.

2. Place the container over the scrap wood for protection and punch holes along the design with a nail and hammer (figure A).

3. Fill with soil and plants or use as a trashcan.
