Figure C
Bernadette Faulkner from Lambuth University joins host Renai Ellison to demonstrate how to create the feel of an English garden, using just a willow basket, some appropriate plants and a little creativity.

Materials:

floral foam
willow basket (or other type of choice)
sheet-floral foil liner
flowers and plants of different heights and textures (perhaps orchids, ivy and ferns; choose plants that are appealing and consistent with the look that has been chosen)
Spanish moss
dragonfly or other decorative critter
ribbon for a complementary bow

Steps:

  1. Put floral foam in bottom of basket for added height if needed.

  2. Put waterproof foil liner (available at craft stores) over the foam to conceal it and keep the basket from leaking (figure A).

  3. Put taller plants in basket first, perhaps in the back (figure B).

  4. Put other tall plants in the opposite corner.

  5. Fill in with smaller plants and ivy.

  6. Finish off with Spanish moss, but don't cover all the soil (figure C).

  7. Place a dragonfly or other critter decoration on the basket.

  8. Add a complementary ribbon to the handle of the basket, tying it tightly to make it really stand up.
