Fall Bouquets

Floral designer Ardith Beveridge travels to the country to show how to put together some of nature's bounty for beautiful fall arrangements.

This display was started by gathering colorful corn, removing the husks and arranging them in a square vase. The ears of corn hide the stems of the flowers that will be placed on top of the display.

Figure A--Beveridge next arranged sunflowers, thistle and garden mums in fall shades among the ears of corn.

Figure B--A final touch of bittersweet is twisted in place above the arrangement, creating a natural handle for the autumn centerpiece.

Figure C--She returns to the field to collect pheasant feathers, mums, dried grasses, black-eyed Susans, sorghum and other materials for this colorful fall bouquet. She places floral foam into an old syrup container and arranges the materials, then adds a clump of raffia for the final touch.

Figure D--Beveridge uses a pumpkin as the focal point of this bold outdoor centerpiece. She hollows out a pumpkin and uses floral stakes to mount it atop a rustic pot filled with floral foam. Floral foam is also used in the pumpkin, and she arranges colorful amaranths around the base of the pumpkin. She decorates the top with fresh autumn flowers and a twisted maze of curly willow to finish it off.
