Host Sharon Anderson meets with designer Robb Whittlef, who provides ideas on beautiful autumn accessories that can be made at home. Whittlef suggests embellishing an ordinary table runner with velvet leaves, making a wreath shaped like an oak leaf, and using an old window to create a stunning fall decoration.
Figure A--Use artificial leaves made of velvet to add a rich texture to a table runner. Using a hot-glue gun, attach the leaves in layers and scatter some at random to make it look like they've just fallen from the trees.
Figure B--Glue gold velvet leaves on a charger platter to create an interesting display base for a fall candle display. Use either hot glue or a spray adhesive to attach the leaves.
Figure C--Cut a foam form into the shape of an oak leaf, and attach fall items such as velvet leaves, pine cones, acorns and other autumn standards. This would make a great piece to hang on the front door.
Figure D--Take an old window and turn it into a unique fall display. Collect autumn leaves, coat them with a spray adhesive and press them onto the panes. Use a spray crackle finish to simulate the look of frost on the windowpanes as a finishing touch.
