Lark Foster demonstrates how to create a classic English garden setting for the dining room.
Window Box Centerpiece
- Use Victorian plants: parlor palms, maidenhair ferns, English ivy.
- Introduce contrasting colors to plant selection with flowers that complement china patterns.
- Fill a picket fence window box with plants for a dining table centerpiece.
- Cut ivy tendrils and place in moss to spill over the table.
Candleholders Steps:
- Press pansy blooms (very Victorian) between layers of waxed paper; place a heavy stack of books on top of blooms for at least three days.
- In a glass candleholder, sandwich pressed flowers between the glass and a layer of moss. Then place another glass votive holder and candle inside the moss to hold the arrangement together.
Napkin Rings - Use ribbon as a napkin ring and instead of finishing it with a bow, place blown-glass posy pins (small vases) in center of ribbon ring. Add fresh flowers that coordinate with the table decor.
