The Bud Vase
Materials:
bud vase
floral food
a single flower
several greens or curly twig
Steps:
- Select a narrow-necked vase and fill with water containing floral food.
- Cut flower stem to about twice the height of vase. Strip stem so that no leaves will be covered by water. Place flower in vase.
- To give added support and beauty, add a stem or two of linear foliage or curly twig.
- Finally, to give the bud vase an elegant, balanced look, insert a few small leaves at the rim.
Tips:
- Be imaginative with the bud vases! Beautiful perfume bottles, recycled spice jars or antique apothecary bottles can all hold a stem or two.
- Select ones for inexpensive, personalized gifts.
- Dress up plain vases by wrapping a pretty ribbon around the neck.
Asian Influence
Materials:
round bowl (any size - the larger the bowl, the taller the flower)
flower frog with sharp picks
floral clay
rocks, marbles or shells
a single flower
several greens or curly twig
Steps:
- Attach floral clay to frog rim and adhere to the bottom of bowl. Use rocks, shells , marbles, etc. to hide the frog.
- Cut one flower to a height that is about one and a half to two times the bowl's diameter. For instance: If the bowl is five inches round, the flower can stand up to 10 inches tall. Strip stem so that no leaves will be covered by water. Insert the flower into the frog's center.
- To give added support and beauty, add a stem or two of linear foliage or curly twig.
