Designer Teri Daniels from Fabri-Centers of America puts together a lovely floral arrangement from wheat and dried flowers. Daniels explains that this arrangement is based in the Biedermeier design style, where the wheat and flowers are arranged row upon row for a vertical look.
Daniels chose to use wheat, larkspur, statice, yarrow, hydrangea, and moss in this arrangement.
Materials:
dried flowers
low container & floral foam to fit
scissors or floral snips
craft glue
green moss
optional: ribbon or raffia
Steps:
- Choose several dried flowers for each design. You will be building in rows, each row slightly shorter than the one before.
- Glue floral foam into the bottom of container. Make sure foam covers entire open surface of container. Loosely place moss on top of foam. Don't secure it down completely because you'll need to insert many stems. You may secure additional moss as you fill in the rows of florals.
- Begin by placing tallest row in back. The height of each flower should be the same and each one should be lined up perfectly straight and very close to the one beside it. You are building a cluster in a row.
- The second row and each subsequent row should each be shorter than the previous row. You may also alternate types of flowers used, or use all one type. Daniels recommends combinations because variation in color and texture adds interest.
