Mosaic Artist

Modern Masters : Episode MAS-404 -- More Projects »
Floridians know Carlos Alves as The Mosaic Man. He designs driveways, countertops and walls with his colorful mosaic tile work. But his work is not limited to spaces in the Sunshine State by any means. They adorn homes from Miami to Hong Kong and London.

Although a broken tile or china plate may mean disaster to some people, for Alves, it's all in a day's work. Taking existing tile, chinaware and his own custom designed tile, he smashes each piece and rearranges the small bits into abstract works of architectural interest.
