Materials:
picket fencing
measuring tape
scrap wood (1 x 2 or 1 x 3)
hand or jigsaw
wood glue
screws
hinges
latex paint
Steps:
1. Measure the height of the fireplace and cut the pickets a few inches longer .
2. Lay pickets out in groups of three for each section. Cut two pieces of scrap wood for each section to use to join each set of three pickets near the top and bottom . Secure crossbars with wood glue and screws.
3. Paint each section as desired.
4. Once dry, join sections together by attaching hinges to the crossbars.
