Textured Dresser

Use plaster mediums, tools and paint to add texture to a plain dresser.

Materials:

dresser
coarse grit sandpaper
white primer
textured paint
yellow latex paint
paintbrushes
brown glaze

Steps:


  1. Sand dresser with coarse sandpaper.

  • Prime the surface with a white primer (figure A).
  • PHOTO

  • Use a paintbrush to apply the textured paint (figure B). Work on small sections and overlap areas to create depth. Be careful not to coat too heavily. The paint will chip off after drying if it is applied too heavily.

  • After the textured paint dries, apply a coat of yellow latex paint. Let this dry overnight.

  • Once again using a paint brush, apply a coat of brown glaze (figure C). This will really bring out the texture. You can apply another coat of glaze if desired.
