Create the look of inlaid wood in elaborate designs using stains and stencils.
Materials:

unfinished wood furniture
Aqua Stain & Seal (Honey Pine, Ebony, Antique Mahogany , Barn Red)
stencil (#518 Elegant Berries)
stencil brushes
paper towels
220 -grit sandpaper
foam paintbrush
cheesecloth

Steps:

1. Apply a thin, even coat of Honey Pine using a foam brush. Wipe excess off with cheesecloth and let dry. Lightly sand the surface and remove dust.

2. Place the stencil in desired position on the wood. Put pieces of tape between the stencil and wood and mark the registration points onto the tape. Use stencil brushes like paintbrushes to apply Antique Mahogany and Ebony to the leaves and Barn Red to the berries. Apply another coat for darker coloration. Let dry.

3. Place the second and third stencil layers on top one at a time for the accents (use black shadowing to delineate the designs as desired). Let dry before applying the next coat.

4. Apply another coat of Honey Pine as above to enrich the stencil colors. Let dry.
