Materials:
Benjamin Moore's AquaPearl latex paint (#HC-46)
paintbrush
roller
Golden Artist Color glazes (Metallic Bronze, Metallic Gold, Raw Umber, Mars Black Fluid Acrylic)
medium wool sponge
paint trays
3-M Long-Mask masking tape
Steps:
- Mask-off all moldings and the ceiling.
- Base-coat the walls with #HC-46 and let dry for three to four hours.
- Mix a glaze by combining five parts Metallic Bronze Glaze with one part Mars black Fluid Acrylic.
- Pour some of the bronze/black glaze into a tray. With a damp sponge,start adding the glaze lightly around the bottom of the wall, and fade it out about four to five feet from the floor (figure A). Let dry three to four hours. Rinse sponge.
- Pour some Raw Umber Glaze into a tray. Dip a damp sponge into the glaze and apply it heavily near the base molding, and fade it out approximately 12 to 16 inches from the floor. Let dry three to four hours. Rinse sponge.
- Pour some Metallic Bronze Glaze into a tray. Dip a damp sponge into the glaze and apply it lightly over the whole wall. Let it dry three to four hours. Rinse sponge.
- Pour some Metallic Gold Glaze into a tray. Dip a damp sponge in and apply it evenly and lightly over the whole surface (figure B). Rinse sponge and pull the tape.
