Faux Lacquered Box

Materials:

coffee pot and kettle-shaped wooden boxes
black gesso
sponge brushes
small artist's brushes
dimensional metallic silver fabric paint
FolkArt acrylic metallic paints (Peridot, Emerald Green, Blue Pearl)
Artist Gloss varnish

Steps:

1. Base-coat box and lid with one layer of black gesso. Let dry.
2. Draw seaweed and fish designs with dimensional paint. Let dry.
3. Fill in leaf outlines with emerald green and allow to dry.
4. Fill in fish outline with emerald green and blue pearl. Allow to dry.
5. Paint handles and knobs in Peridot. Let dry.
6. When all paint is completely dry, apply four coats varnish with brush.
