Guest Sandi Reinke introduces a new lightweight faux-brick product from Loose Ends. These faux bricks are actually paper pulp tiles, available in a variety of sizes in natural brick or adobe white color. The tiles are made primarily of a coconut fiber and an abaca base. Though made from paper pulp, they can be painted, and when sealed, even placed in areas of high humidity such as the bathroom (but not directly in the shower).

Reinke used the tiles to create a wonderful wall frame by cutting out a plywood frame and hot-gluing the tiles to the surface. She pressed pliable pieces of reindeer moss between the tiles to simulate grout and embellished the design by hot-gluing pieces of dried fruit, cinnamon sticks and dried lichen to the piece.

Reinke also used the tile to cover a wooden planter box and to create a trinket box using strips of bark ribbon as hinges for attaching a lid. She recommends adhesive-backed moss cloth for grout material in larger projects.
