Host Cindy Piccoli shows how to give a plain glass tabletop an exciting new look using silver leafing and spray paint.

Materials:

glass tabletop
silver leafing kit
spray paint in desired color
template
marker
tape
paper for template

Tips:

  • Try using gold or copper leaf for an alternate look.
  • Trace a favorite design from a magazine or book to create a template.

Steps:
  1. Create a paper template using a stencil or any other desired design. Making the template as large as the tabletop will be easier than moving a small one around.
  2. Lay glass top side up on a soft surface. Tape the template upside down onto top of glass.
  3. Turn glass over (bottom side up) and fill in template lines with acrylic size that comes with the silver leafing kit.
  4. After size turns tacky, apply silver foil. Brush away and save any excess for another project. Allow to dry overnight.
  5. Dust the underside with several light coats of spray paint, allowing to dry in between.
  6. Turn table over and remove template.
