Materials:
gourd
utility knife
sandpaper
polyurethane
2 bottles of nail polish (sheer color)
gold spray paint
foam brushes
craft glue
decorative papers
scissors
sponge
water
gold ribbon
trim
Velcro
hot glue gun
Steps :
1. Cut dried gourd in half around circumference with a utility knife. Use fingers and sandpaper to clean the inside. Apply two coats of polyurethane to the interior for a smooth surface. Let dry.
2. Spray-paint exterior gold and let dry. Pour nail polish into the gourd and swirl it around until coated. Paint the inside of the lid, too and let both dry. Repeat process with second bottle.
3. Cut desired images from paper and make slits in them along natural lines so they'll bend around the gourd.
4. Coat the outside of the gourd base with glue using your hands and apply images . Press firmly and use a damp sponge to smooth each until flat. Let dry. Repeat process with lid.
5. Apply two coats of polyurethane. Let dry.
6. Glue a small piece of ribbon to the lid and bottom in the back to create a hinge .
7. Attach two small pieces of self-adhesive Velcro to the front of the gourd and the lid just next to the cut. Cover another small piece of Velcro with ribbon and attach it to the pieces on the gourd for a clasp.
8. Glue decorative trim to a strip of ribbon, and then glue the ribbon around the gourd base for a final decorative touch.
