An old metal pail gets a boost with the same decoupage process used for the mirror. Filling it with similar colors of real flowers enhances the design. Use decorative paints and papers to revitalize a large terra-cotta saucer to hold fruit and to cover a cigar box for extra storage.
Materials:

old window
paint roller
paintbrushes
X-acto knife
scissors
colorful paper
soap and water
damp rag
water-based finish
water-based primer
white glue
paint
mirror
roller or brayer

Steps:

  1. Remove the glass from the frame and clean it with soap and water. Apply one coat of primer and let dry.
  2. Paint the frame as desired and start cutting the paper into strips, squares , etc. while the paint is drying.
  3. Dilute glue with water and stir until it's a milky consistency to avoid bubbles . Apply it evenly to a piece of paper, starting in the middle and brushing it toward the edges. Put the paper in place until the frame is covered using a damp cloth to help paste it. Be sure the paper goes completely underneath so the mirror reflection doesn't show mistakes. Use a roller to eliminate bubbles on large sections of the frame. Wipe the roller off as needed so glue doesn't rip the paper.
  4. Once the frame is covered with paper, seal it with a finish (oil-based finishes will stain the paper).
  5. Have mirror pieces cut to fit the open panes and have a professional fasten them.
