Materials:
two-inch wide wood flat frame with an 8" x 10" opening
coral acrylic paint
silver leaf sizing sealer
color laser photocopies of antique scrap and enlarged and reverse copies
small curved cuticle scissors
acrylic sealer
white glue
glue brush
colored soft chalk
Hold-It temporary adhesive
poly paintbrushes
burnisher
wipes
tack cloth
acrylic polyurethane finish
steel wool
brayer
sanding sponges
white wax
Steps:
1. Sand and seal a wooden frame.
2. Apply two coats of paint, sand and seal.
3. Apply silver leaf to the frame, burnish and seal.
4. Seal all prints and invitations.
5. Cut out the prints.
6. Attach the cutout prints with temporary adhesive.
7. Outline the composition with chalk.
8. Glue the cutouts on the frame and invitation (figure A). Roll over with a brayer.
9. Clean off chalk and excess glue (figure B).
10. Burnish the edges of the cutouts on the wood frame.
11. Apply multiple coats of finish to the frame.
12. If desired, rub steel wool over the frame and buff with white wax.
Tips:
- The frame can be painted, stained or covered with paper.
- Invitations, photos and announcements can be enlarged or reduced to fit the frame.
